Hairbat #3
Larry remembers his father's wake. There, a young girl in cat's-eye glasses angrily tells young Larry, "It's--your--fault!" But this is something an adult Larry tells himself all the time.
Larry has another run-in with Buddy Thornton, who by now has been on a date with Tracey, Larry's only friend and childhood crush. "Don't worry," goads Buddy, "you can have her when I'm done!" Larry, undone by Buddy's chauvinism, finally strikes back at his old nemesis, leaving him unconscious on the street.
Larry winds up at another HDA meeting, where he finds out from Jackson the two of them aren't the only ones coexisting with animals in their hair.
As if to prove this point, another bat tries to violently wrest control of Larry's hair from Oscar. The interloper is unceremoniously kicked out as Oscar declares, "I'm working this corner!"
Larry soon attracts the attention of five-year old Zuby, who "wikes bats" and tells Larry, "I wanna be wike you when I'm biggo."
But the real boost to Larry's ego is the note from Tracey inviting him to dinner. Fate has other plans, however, as Larry discovers the hard way that he has a long-lost sister with an axe to grind.
