Dr. Sachtler

Dr. Sachtler is no ordinary psychiatrist.  More than just slavishly devoted to Freudian doctrine, he is beholden to the power of Rorschach tests and electro-shock therapy.  Not exactly good qualities in a child psychiatrist.  As young Larry's shrink, Sachtler doesn't so much take take him under his wing as he does boot Larry into an emotional abyss.

Thankfully, he and Larry part ways, only to be reunited again, almost twenty years later.  It is Dr. Sachtler who has Larry committed to an asylum, convinced that his patient is conversing with a dead bat.  As it turns out, though, Dr. Sachtler has more in common with his patient than he cares to admit.

Perhaps what is most peculiar about the doctor is his penchant for conversing with inanimate objects, especially a pair of faithful scissors.  Stranger still is the hospital's willingness to overlook his eccentricity, while condemning Larry for his.
